The top blog posts of 2018

Just looking through the stats for the last year and it gives you an insight into what’s hot and what’s not. So here are the ten most popular blog posts of 2018:

In at Number 10 is:

Who are the hottest FinTech firms and Influencers around the world?

This blog talked about the Forbes FinTech 50, of which not many were European, and the FinTech50 that I judge and work with, where many are European.

At Number 9:

Why I like Turkish banks

It’s actually an interview with me for a Turkish magazine.

Shooting in at Number 8:

Which big banks are most digitally ready?

It was a flawed report by Juniper Research that sparked this blog post, where they had listed a bunch of banks they thought were on the digital edge like Deutsche Bank and HSBC. Really?

At Number 7:

Do we need a blockchain?

At Number 6:

Digital banking? Isn’t that just an app?

Part of my regular series of pissedoffedness with banks that don’t really understand digital, even when they say they do.

Jumping in at Number 5:

How quantum computing will change everything (including banking, money and security)

An incredibly complex subject, summarised in a few words.

At Number 4:

The Amazonisation of Banking (is very different from Amazon being a bank)

Not even written by me but by Dave Birch … Bar Steward.

And so to the Top Three for 2018.

At Number 3:

The FinTech outlook for 2018

Last January I did a round robin summary of what everyone was saying would happen this year in FinTech. They got most of it wrong, as I recounted yesterday.

At Number 2, the second most read blog entry of 2018 is ….

Open Banking – a complete failure?

For all our great efforts and discussions, opening up the banks just didn’t happen (yet).

Finally, at Number 1, the most popular bog of 2018 is:

20 of Europe’s hottest fintech start-ups to watch in 2018

Not even written by me. Bugger.

Have a great holiday season and see you in 2019.
