Sing-alonga-bank song

I can't get rid of all the holiday season frivolity without a timely reminder of what banking is all about:

Thanks to Disney and Mary Poppins for cheering my family over the last two weeks and for this song in particular.

I particularly love the bit towards the end where Dick Van Dyke – yes, that's him playing the old dodderer – says "whilst stands the banks of England, England stands; when fall the banks of England, England falls" … so right!

And also the way the banker grabs the child's tuppence and the boy grabs it back.  Children can be so clever with money.

Anyways, YouTube viewers obviously rate it, according to the 120+ comments:

AngloAmalgamated
"Tuppence invested: Terms and Conditions Apply.  We will apply a commision
charge to all investments, together with a monthly account maintanence charge.
In addition we will deduct a contribution towards our director's annual
mega-bonuses regardless of performance.  There is also an annual deduction
paid towards the bank's 'dodgy greed investment fund', rescue account. Also
remember, the value of investments can go down as well as up."

"This bit used to scare me when I was a child for some reason, when the
children ran away from the bankers. I'm not to bothered now. lol"

"Same here. I was terrified of banks for the longest time, because I thought
I would be surrounded by scary old men. :/"

How right they are …
