Michael Jackson blows Google, Twitter and Facebook apart

The shock death of Michael Jackson last night created a raft of news stories about how it has impacted the world of global connections via the internet.

From the crash of Google, to the explosion of Facebook and Tweets about him, to the proof that we can't even spell his name, to amazing tributes (and jokes) ... Michael Jackson is the biggest news to crash the web so far.

This has nothing to do with banking today, obviously, although I'm sure there will be stories which will talk about how his financial troubles brought on his heart attack. For example, the BBC reports that he was known to be spending over $20 million a year more than he earned and, in 2005, was called a 'spendaholic' with a "billionaire spending habit for only a millionaire's spending budget".

Equally, the cancellation of his London extended concert range is rumoured to have cost the organisers around £300 million.

But he'll be best remembered for Thriller, Billie Jean and his other milestone songs and dances.
