For those who seek inspiration, there are two great opportunities coming up in the next two months.
First, I am going to be in India for a week from 14th October, and happy to consider any bookings whilst there. Just let me know if this is of interest.
Second, Mark Inglis is coming to London to talk at the Financial Services Club on September 25th. If anyone wants an inspirational speech from Mark, let me know.
For further background, I think most of you know me but, just in case, here’s a shameless plug:
If you’re in Mumbai, Dehli, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai or any other major Indian City, give me a shout if you want some advice during the week of 14th October.
Meanwhile, if you don't know Mark Inglis, he's a professional mountaineer.
Back in 1979, he began his working life as a search and
In 1982 he and climbing partner Philip Doole were caught in
inclement weather and ended up being stuck in a snow cave on Mount Cook for 13
The rescue of the two climbers was a major media event in
New Zealand, especially as both men's legs had become badly frost bitten whilst
Following his rescue, both of Mark’s legs were amputated
below the knee but, even with this setback, he returned to Mount Cook in 2002
and reached the summit successfully on 7th January that year.
He followed this by climbing Mount Everest and, on 15th May
2006, became the first ever double amputee to reach the summit.
Mark is an amazing inspirational speaker and has had far
more success than just being a mountain climber carving out careers as a
scientist, a world recognised winemaker, business innovator, a Paralympic
athlete, trekking guide, philanthropist and a leading International Motivator.
It is this combination of achievement in the face of
seemingly overwhelming odds, his business acumen and his ability to interpret
this to a wide range of people, that results in Mark having regular opportunity
to share his experience and philosophy with world leaders and to inspire
ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things.
If you want to book Mark during his time in Europe, just ask, or come along to our Club meeting on 25th September, a joint meeting with the charity Mines Advisory Group City.
