The FinTech Karaoke Challange: Islands in the Stream, with Barb MacLean

Chris Skinner Author Avatar

This week's challenge was created by various tweets between myself and Barb MacLean. She offered to duet with me but, considering I'm here in Poland she's in Canada, that could be difficult.

Anyways, the song we picked was Island in the Stream or, as it is now, Apps in the Cloud. We probably shouldn't have chosen that one as it seemed easy but, being a Robin Gibb song, it proved to challenge pitch a little. Equally, I was trying for my best Kenny Rogers look and failed miserably. I think I look more like some old banking guy who hasn't shaved for a few days ... anyways, Barb turned up very smart.

Apps in the Cloud

Fintech, when I met you, you were almost unknown

But now you’re a giant, how you’ve grown

You were finding your space and there was something going on.

Your software does something that I can't explain

It takes away friction, there’s no user pain

Every swipe of the app means users getting on.

Honest software requires no conversion

We can use it together with complete assertion, uh huh

Making clicks with each other. uh huh.

Apps in the Cloud

That is what we are

Offering plug-and-play

Wherever you are

Making users happy and journeys great

That's why we API each other, ah-ha

From one server to another, ah-ha

I can't live without Banking as a Service

A way of doing business with no mouse

Allowing everyone to deal with money

Completely in their own way.

That won’t happen if you work for a bank

A bank culture is too full of skank

You need to be a start-up and work in a whole new way.

Because we start with the user

Make sure they’re no loser

And we can surf it together, uh huh

Makin' clicks with each other, uh huh.

Apps in the Cloud

That is what we are

Offering plug-and-play

Wherever you are

Making users happy and journeys great

That's why we API with each other, ah-ha

From one server to another, ah-ha
