More City tidbits …

I spotted this story in tonight's newspapers about the exclusive 'posh' builders to the stars, Robin Ellis Construction Services, who went bankrupt today.

Yep, it's another of those cheerful credit crunch stories.

This firm worked with the likes of David Bowie, Mick Jagger and Vanessa Mae, but their top class clientele of hedge fund managers and city bankers just can't pay the bills anymore, so they've gone under.

I particularly liked the quote from CEO Robin Ellis in 2007, just before the crisis hit, who said: "London is so awash with money now.  I can only compare it to 15th-century Venice for opulence and wealth."

And what happened to 15th-century Venice I wonder.

I also enjoyed this cartoon from London Lite.
