I was in Canary Wharf yesterday in a variety of meetings and walked across from the Wharf to West Quay for a conference in the Marriott Hotel.
As I wandered across the bridge, there was a seal in the waters of the Docklands behind HSBC.
I thought my eyes deceived me and waited ages for the wee critter to come back up again so that I could take a photograph to prove it. But the shy thing disappeared and so that was that.
Arriving home, I googled "seal canary wharf" and guess what. He or she is a resident:
Bankers must be doing something right to have such a cute little friend around ... or maybe the seal realised there's plenty of easy fish to be found in the region.
