
Exactly one year ago today, I landed in Vienna for SIBOS 2008.
My plane took off on Sunday 14th September from Heathrow at 14:40 and I landed at 18:30 local time (17:30 GMT, 12:30 EST).
Waiting for my luggage, I switched on the mobile and was surprised, as it was a Sunday, to find four messages.
They all said the same thing: "what's going on with Lehman Brothers? Is Barclays going to buy them? What happens if they don't?"
By the following morning, it was official.
Lehman Brothers was dead.
