Happy Anniversary Lehman Brothers

Exactly one year ago today, I landed in Vienna for SIBOS 2008.

My plane took off on Sunday 14th September from Heathrow at 14:40 and I landed at 18:30 local time (17:30 GMT, 12:30 EST).

Waiting for my luggage, I switched on the mobile and was surprised, as it was a Sunday, to find four messages.

They all said the same thing: "what's going on with Lehman Brothers?  Is Barclays going to buy them?  What happens if they don't?"

By the following morning, it was official.

Lehman Brothers was dead.

Happy Anniversary and, for those who enjoy wallowing in memories, click onto the Guardian's interactive storyboard to relive the last year:
