Travelling around recently, hotels only seem to have English speaking news channels on the TV. Boring.
Endlessly cycled news, regurgitated on the half-hour every half-hour (every fifteen minutes in fact).
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Then there's the adverts.
And suddenly Sean Connery - yes, he's still working and alive! - comes on saying, "eesh time fwor green banking".
What?
Sean Connery, the original 007, the man with a licence to kill, the hardest man on the planet at one point - oh yes, and he's Indiana's dad - is now saying it's time for green banking.
What?
What is this 'green banking' and why the hell is James Bond selling it.
Only Credit Agricole know ...
UPDATE
The ad has gotten Credit Agricole into a bit of trouble with French authorities, as Sean Connery wrote in his autobiography last year:
“Little did we all know then that (this) bonnie bank (Royal Bank of Scotland) would fail in 2008, as catastrophically as Scotland’s Darien misadventure had done over 300 years ago.
“Just as the banker William Paterson’s ambitions had caused the disaster of Darien, so had the reckless foreign acquisitions of the banker Fred Goodwin, chief executive of the Royal Bank of Scotland, wreaked disaster.
“Both had to retreat from their over-extended misadventures and both had to be rescued by the state with many billions of taxpayers’ pounds. Who are the conmen now?”
and Sir Sean took £1.2 million of Credit Agricole's money, a bank that also received £2.7 billion from the French Government in emergency aid? No wonder the ad isn't running in France ...
