She popped her clogs

It’s the last proper day of SIBOS and the dialogue has been good.

Interestingly, I finished yesterday with a trip out to a rural restaurant that took me past windmills and canals ...

... so I finally saw a bit of Holland for proper.

It did amuse me that when I arrived at the restaurant my hosts gave me a pair of clogs.

I kind of thought clogs were a bit like Pearly Queens.

You’ve heard of them, but don’t expect to see them anymore.

So I asked my host: “does anyone in Holland wear clogs anymore?”

He said: “Sure, I do. They’re great for when I’m gardening.”

Hmmm ...

Clogs

There you go. It reminds me of the old joke: I once went out with a Dutch girl who wore inflatable shoes. Tried to find her again recently, and found she had popped her clogs.

Anyways, we had a good dinner debate about customer-centricity and what that means; whether payments is a price war or a cost war; why SEPA and the PSD has stalled; the meaning of innovation in payments; enterprise billing and how to make that work; and more.

You can see it was all very light-hearted.

Up early this morning for the “Pitch Your Lab” innotribe session this morning ... see ya later.
