I just found a fascinating report from data.ai about the state of mobile usage today. Apparently we spend a third of the day, on average, playing with our phones. The mobile economy is now worth more than half a trillion dollars; with most of it generated through spending on mobile adverts; and almost 500,000 apps are downloaded to our mobies every minute!
It made me wonder about how many live mobile accounts there are out there these days.

17 billion!!! Wow!!! And there’s just over 8 billion people on Earth, including kids and pensioners. That’s two mobies per person!!!
I always remember someone telling me that not everyone has access to a mobile phone, so yes, we need to qualify. Some people have two or three mobile phones and they have SIM chips in their cars and other devices for connectivity everywhere. Some of us have several phones, and also tablet computers and other things connected too. So this is not two mobile phones per person on Earth; it’s more like everyone on Earth having access to a mobile phone and, to the point, if you have access to a mobile phone then you can trade, transact, talk and – most important of all – play games.
Anyways, rather than writing a long blog about this, here’s a few of the key stats from data.ai. Enjoy. Oh, and don't miss the video at the end ...
